Making a Skimpy Dress Modest

There’s this cute dress that I’ve had forever, but I barely wear it because it is way too short for my taste. Today I’m going to take this skimpy dress and try to make it modest!

not bad, but not good.

I’m going to add a couple more pieces, including a full skirt, to cover up more.

similar black colors

At first I didn’t think it would work, because the black colors don’t exactly match, but I think it all came together very well! πŸ™‚

I like it!

The black, soft skirt underneath gave me a few more inches in length. Actually, several inches in some places! And the top gave me a bit more coverage.

I ended up liking this!! The skirt blends seamlessly with the dress.

Layers 😍

Now I just need the shoes 😁

Pro Tip for Taking Pics: Instead of setting a timer on your photos, pose for a video! Then do screenshots. This saved me so much time!

Long skirts are pretty! πŸ₯°

  1. It turned out so cute! I love layering clothes. I’ve found you can wear really cute clothes with layers underneath or over a cute outfit. There are also layering slips with beautiful lace at the bottom.

  2. My gothy little heart is loving the almost Gothic Lolita-esque aesthetic! You look soooo cool. πŸ–€

I also feel that a cardigan on top would look amazing, or maybe even a 2000s era bolero? People always hate on boleros but as a 2000s teen, I wish they’d make a comeback haha πŸ”™πŸ”™

    • Aw Thanks so much πŸ₯° I’m actually really drawn to Lolita fashion, but it’s soooo intimidating at the same time! It’s expensive and people seem to be very fanatical about “doing it right.”

Those boleros are really cute ❀️ They provide coverage and sit just at the right spot on the waist to give that hourglass shape. I wish they’d make a comeback too! πŸ™‚

      • Isn’t it interesting how we always stop /want to stop ourselves from doing something because we’re afraid of doing it wrong? πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

I’m so intimidated all this time learning programming because I feel like I’m too slow, not smart enough, doing it wrong, even though on an intellectual level I know I’m doing my best and anyway, who cares. Literally no one but me.

If you like gothic Lolita, I’d say go for it. And it’s authentically grounded in your love for Japanese and Korean music, drama, language and culture. Plus you have a lot of Asian inspired items in your wardrobe or you can style them to look more Asian. You’ve been β€˜doing it right’ all this time already. xx
