Sunshine Blogger Award

I was nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award ❤️ I’ll preface by saying I’m not sure how this works, but I’m giving it a try because it sounds fun! A big thank you to Colin from Buffalo Retro for nominating me.

Buffalo Retro is a blog/digital archive of PlayStation 2 games, complete with videos, reviews, game details, and more. It’s a really great blog to bring back old memories. It’s also great for you youngin’s who wonder what video games were like “back-in-the-day.” Please check it out 🙂

Here are the questions I was given:

1.) Have you ever been so scared or disturbed by a video game you refused to finish playing it?
2.) Best concert you have ever been to?
3.) Last show of any kind you saw before COVID hit?
4.) The Best Movie Trilogy?
5.) Dogs or Cats?
6.) What do you think games will look like fifty years from now?

1.) Have you ever been so scared or disturbed by a video game you refused to finish playing it?

Yes!!

I’ve exclusively played on the DS/3DS pretty much since 2004. My 3DS automatically downloaded a sample of Resident Evil Revelations (2012) and I instantly had a heart attack. I could not get through the first few minutes!

I don’t do well with horror movies, games, or anything. So, I don’t know if the game was that scary, or if I’m just a chicken…

2.) Best concert you have ever been to?

Sarah McLachlan at the Red Rocks Amphitheater. She played with the Colorado Symphony orchestra and it was all so beautiful!! 😭

Left, the Red Rocks in Colorado. I took that photo.
Right, Sarah McLachlan and the orchestra. I didn’t yet have my camera with the good zoom, so she’s pretty blurry.

(But I also need to mention Radiohead back around 2008. They sound absolutely perfect live.)

3.) Last show of any kind you saw before COVID hit?

Oh, I’m not a going-to-shows kind of person, so it was probably the Sarah McLachlan concert…

4.) The Best Movie Trilogy?

Austin Powers, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, and Austin Powers in Goldmember. I’m dead-serious 😁

5.) Dogs or Cats?

I used to love cats, and even volunteered for a cat rescue in California. All my life I thought I was a cat person, until this little guy came along:

I mean, look at that little face!!!

He is super-gentle, sweet, and really good with kids. Vets love him! He never bites or chews, and only prefers toys. He’s a miniature pinscher + mutt named Tyson Evander Holyfield 🙂

the goodest boye ever!

6.) What do you think games will look like fifty years from now?

By 2071, I think games will be internally connected and we’ll be tightly bonded to both games and social media, like a nightmare Invader Zim scenario.

Although probably wireless 😉

That was fun! 🙂 And as the Sunshine Blogger Award goes, now I nominate a few people.

Evil Squirrel’s Nest

The Big Hair Diaries

Nana’s Whimsical World

Man V Music

My Questions For You Are:

1. What was the first movie you ever saw in theaters?
2. If you could instantly know any language fluently, which would it be?
3. What gives you the most nostalgia for your teenage years?
4. What is the first restaurant you’ll visit this summer, and what dish will you treat yourself to?
5. What song do you think people should hear at least once in their lifetime?
6. What one thing are you really, really, really good at (big or small)?

If you don’t find your name above, it’s because I know your blog has a clear theme that may not match with your overall blogging goals.

And also it is entirely optional if I did mention you! I think. hahaha

I hope you have fun if you decide to take on the award! ☝️ All the blogs linked are blogs I personally enjoy and follow, check them out if you’d like, and thanks again to Buffalo Retro 🙂

  1. Do you love in Colorado? I grew up in Denver. Also, I saw you mentioned in a former post that you grew up in Puerto Rico. My husband and I were recently thinking about moving our family there. ☺

    • I’m still getting used to the cold (first time living in snow) but otherwise the weather is nice. My favorite part 🙂 I do love it here!

Yes, I grew up in Puerto Rico 🌴 I haven’t been back in many years, so I would recommend visiting before moving. The only real downside is that it’s an island, so when there’s bad hurricanes, you have to fly out early or ride it out. There’s a window of time when you can fly out, then that window closes.

We came to the U.S. because one especially bad hurricane made us destitute, and I guess my parents didn’t want to go through that again. Anyway, something to consider! I didn’t mean to be a bummer 😄 I do believe Puerto Rico is a beautiful place 💖

      • Haha! No worries. We actually have already decided not to move there. I wrote about it in a blogpost a few ones back called No Matter the Cost. And yes! Colorado can be very cold! I’m no longer used to it. 😔 It’s so pretty though, with so much to do outdoors. I wish I would have taken advantage of that growing up. You’ll just have to enjoy it for me fully! 😉

      • Ah, just noticed I said I grew up in Denver. That’s odd. That’s generally the answer I give to people that haven’t been to Colorado–that I grew up in a suburb outside of Denver. But I specifically grew up in Thornton. Not that thet matters much, but I felt like I was unintentionally being deceitful with my first response, so I wanted to clarify. ☺

  2. These are all great answers except one made me double take. I have gotten into so many arguments at work with guys at work because I have said my favorite trilogy of all time is Austin Powers. 😂 You are the only person I’ve ever met that has said the same! I’m really astounded 😂

  3. Loved your answers! Resident Evil is definitely scary, more so the possibility you described for the future of games.

And love the shoutout to Canadian Sarah MacLachlan. I saw her years ago when she organized Lilith Fair and she was so good. Also love the dance remix Tiesto did of one of her songs, Silence!

    • Aww That’s awesome that you got to see her💖 She has such a lovely voice, and sings perfect live. “Silence” always slips from my memory but it’s such a fantastic song too!

  4. Congrats on the nomination and Austin Powers is such a great Trilogy.
It’s kinda a shame Myers killed his on screen career with some lesser attempts I would love to see something new in the Austin Powers Universe.. not persé a new Austin Powers movie.. but maybe the trilogy of Felicia Shagwell, or one focussing on evil Seth Green.

Such a sweet dog as well! I am very much a dog person over a cat person! And that one is just super duper adorable!

    • Thank you 🙂 And yeah, I haven’t seen a Mike Myers movie in forever. I wonder what he’s up to these days… A movie along the lines of what you mentioned would be so awesome 😄

My dog Tyson is so cute and he always makes me laugh ❤️ Thanks so much for stopping by!
