Can You Beat Me?

I’m a really good typist πŸ™‚ In high school, our teacher smeared black paint all over the keyboards so that we couldn’t look down and see the letters!

Here are my best scores:

And:

It’s the one thing I like to brag about πŸ˜πŸ˜„

You can try to beat my score at TypingTest, or just test your own skills. Have fun!

  1. I type about 80 words a minute and my son, who learned touch typing in grade three was typing one day and I noticed he was typing incredibly fast. So we went on a game online and had a race and he was typing 118 words a minute. That’s when I realized I wasn’t that fast.

  2. That’s amazing! I am not that fast! When I was young I loved the computer game “Type to Learn” at school so much my folks bought it for me at home!!! I have considered being a stenographer and you would be even better!!!!!

      • Lol! Thanks for the compliment! Yes, typing my posts is hard work for me.

The lead guitarist of my favorite rock band, the Byrds, was a guy named Roger McGuinn. He started out playing banjo in folk bands in the early-1960s. When he switched to rock and co-founded the Byrds, he didn’t know any better and continued picking his 12-string guitar like a banjo with the thumb and index fingers holding a pick and finger-picking with the other three fingers at the same time, a very unique approach both then and now. How the human brain can coordinate all of that while simultaneously changing the chords with the fingers of the other hand boggles my mind.

      • I’ve heard that playing the banjo is extremely difficult to learn, so McGuinn must have had crazy amount of practice hours! That’s awesome πŸ˜€

I’ve heard of the Byrds, but not that. That’s really cool, thanks for sharing πŸ™‚

  3. Whoa, you’re super fast! That typing test looks like fun. I’ll have to check it out. Maybe I’m aging myself, but they offered typing classes with an analog typewriter in school rather digital and I remember feeling so proud when I figured it out. A great skill to have for sure!

  4. That’s awesome, Yari! When I was in school I kind of taught myself to type, but usually had to look at the keys. I could type at a fair place, nothing too great though. My mom wanted me to take shorthand in high school so I did. But somehow I got in without realizing that typing was a prerequisite😬 So when we were transcribing our shorthand, the teacher discovered I was typing my own way. After that while everyone else was transcribing their work, I had to sit and practice typing exercises! πŸ˜†

    • I just searched Mavis Beacon on YouTube and a bit of a blast from the past! I think I remember playing that a few times. One of my friends must have had it πŸ˜„ And thank you! Enjoy your day πŸ™‚
