Someone asked me this question recently, and it’s a good question! Because it seems like throwing a dart at a map, a bit random 🙂 My reasons for learning Korean (and Italian) are a bit for me, a bit for others.
For me: I love Korean dramas, movies, vlogs, and music. I want to be able to enjoy these without subtitles. And I love Italian rock music ❤️
For others: If I know Korean/Italian, I can communicate with others. I used to be an English/Spanish translator for a medical clinic, and being able to communicate with others is incredibly helpful and rewarding.
I remember back when I didn’t know English. It was overwhelming at first. When I found myself in a situation where I needed help, it could feel like drowning. And having a person who could speak Spanish felt like a breath of air. Really!
I highly encourage others to learn at least a few key words in another language. That first time you help someone in need, you will see how big of a difference you can make 🙂
안녕! Bye! Ciao!
