Plant Update

November 2020, I got plants for the first time, and this was their first time going through a Colorado winter. Although it’s warm in my house, it’s definitely not summer weather, and I’ve had to get creative putting my plants in the sun.

Here’s how they’re doing now, at the tail-end of winter!

before and after

I really can’t tell if this little guy is alive… He seems to be?

bigger pot

This succulent is doing well, especially after going into a bigger pot. I think I need to add more soil, though. What do you think?

Florida Ivy

The Florida Ivy is doing really well! It needs low light and lots of water. I thought I killed it when I separated it into two pots, but these are doing the best out of the bunch.

Lastly, here is…

When I got it

And now…

Please don’t judge me.

I did my best.

Okay, now…

Hang in there, Gregorny!! 😭

((Shrill violin music plays)) Yeah… I don’t know what I did. I think the sub-zero temperatures outside still affected Gregorny, and now he’s on life support. Any tips would be appreciated, because he looks like he’s about to bite the dust, and I don’t know how to help him.

Let’s look at my nice plants again to get that image out of our heads.

ahhh, much better

Here’s the post when I got them.

μ•ˆλ…•! Bye! Ciao!

  1. Great job! I love the greenery πŸ™‚ It looks like your plants are doing great! Poor Gregorny. I have a plant like that and lost half of it too. I decided to put mine outside over the summer 24/7 to let it dry out and let nature do its thing. Now my live half is doing really well. Hang in there, Gregorny! Warmer temps ahead!

    • Oh, I didn’t know about that. I’ll look up pruning also. I’ll look for a bigger pot and set him out on my back patio when spring temperatures come. Glad to know he’s still alive! I really wasn’t sure…

  2. Hey you are doing an amazing job with your plants!! I have no green thumb at all so I salute you for being able to care for plants so well, haha. I hope for the best for Gregorny!! πŸ™ (And a special shoutout to your awesome Goosebumps/R.L. Stine collection! 😍 )

  3. First, I love the squirrel tooπŸ˜€ Then I agree with Robyn and Stuart. β€œGreg” is still alive, and I’m thinking if you trim him back some, a lot of new leaves will sprout when the weather warms up. πŸ‘ I, on the other hand, had a similar situation with β€œSunny” the sunflower a couple of years ago, but unfortunately he did bite the dust! The rest of your plants look great! 🌻🌻

    • I’ll definitely do that. I appreciate all the help πŸ™‚ Aww sunflowers are beautiful. We used to walk by a house that had some really big ones, like taller than me, and I’m 5’9″! ❀️ Thanks so much πŸ™‚ I’ll do an update on Gregorny once he’s doing better.

  4. If I had to take a wild guess, I would say Gregorny was watered too much. I love plants, too! Most people who have bad outcomes with their plants overwater. Some plants like petunias and other outdoor hanging baskets do have to have loads of water outside in the hot summer. Blessings!

    • Thanks so much for the tip! That would make sense. I googled it and I think Gregorny needs fast-draining soil also. I can’t wait for spring, I think they’ll all do better then! πŸ™‚ God bless and have a great week Ms. Cindy!

  5. Awwwe I hope you can save your elephant bush.! I have one too that was given to me by a friend who accidentally killed it and it’s been reviving but the process is difficult & I don’t really know what I’m doing, just hoping for the best! Lol

  6. I’m so pleased to see the update. My, how time flies by! Yes, 75% amazing success. I agree about Gregorny needing a bigger home and some pruning. You might even want to try again with a pruned bit to see if it will grow another afresh.
