Korean Practice

Well, guys. I just discovered K-pop, so you’ll probably never see or hear from me again πŸ˜† Hahaha I’ve been binge-watching so many awesome videos!

Truth is, it’s been snowy, cloudy, and in the negatives here in Colorado, so I haven’t been able to blog about the feminine/modest outfits I had planned. It’s too cloudy to take good pictures.

I’m still going to blog about going from jeans to mostly skirts, and also how I re-did my wardrobe inexpensively πŸ™‚

But for now, since I can’t take pictures due to lighting, I’ll share instead photos of my Korean practice. I’m getting pretty good at coming up with my own sentences! I want to write a poem in Korean, which is what I’ll be working on next ❀️

I use stickers and cuts from magazines
simple sentences, but I think I spelled it all correctly!

My first full sentence in Korean was “Cookies are delicious” 😁 I did it without looking at my workbooks! It just popped in my head and I wrote it in my diary.

Learning the days of the week
More sentences, more practice.

I like my Korean handwriting πŸ™‚

cute stickers ^.^

I’m looking forward to sunny skies and warmer weather! 🌞 Thanks for reading!

μ•ˆλ…•! Bye! Ciao!

  1. You are amazing! In Korean do you write left to right or top to bottom? I have listened to K-Pop in both Korean (which I do not understand) and in English it’s catchy with nice beats and rhythms. Stay warm my friend. It is snowing and sleeting like crazy here.

  2. Really, Yari, taking on a language such as Korean is quite the undertaking. Glad to see you’re making progress, and can’t wait to read your first all-Korean-language blog. (Of course, you’d have to translate, thereby meaning it would no longer be an all-Korean-language blog!)

  3. Haha what are your kpop favourites?

I’m the worst immigrant in that I just cannot get into it but I remember liking 2ne1’s I’m the best (λ‚΄κ°€ 제일 잘 λ‚˜κ°€).

Also about that μΈμ‚¬ν•˜μ„Έμš”. Are you telling someone else to say hi?

Eg my sister in law will tell her kids to greet the hubster and me when we get in if they’re busy playing on their bloody mobile phones / tablets / Nintendo switch (kids and technology – a rant for another day haha). She’ll tell them, μ•Ό, 인사! Or μ–˜λ“€μ•„, μ‚Όμ΄Œ μ˜€μ…¨λ‹€. μΈμ‚¬ν•˜μ„Έμš”!

    • No K-pop?? They might kick you out of the country πŸ˜„ Hahaha I’ve been listening a lot to a guy named Kai. I’m learning to sing his song, “Mmm” because it’s repetitive and simple. Oh and super catchy πŸ™‚

Yes, it’s say hello! Between my workbook and my learning app, I pick up random stuff like that. I learned to say “헐” when surprised and “문제 μ—†μ–΄μš”” πŸ‘ Ooo I understood μ‚Όμ΄Œ from your sentence πŸ™‚ Are you fluent in Korean?

      • Waiting for immigration to come knocking down my door any day now 🀣
Pretty much conversationally / functionally fluent but I can’t read novels for adults quite yet and many movies also prove too difficult.

      • That’s really good! I think with time you’ll naturally get to do those things πŸ™‚ because that sounds a lot like me learning English. I couldn’t do novels or understand if someone spoke too fast, which was most movies. Then one day, I realized I could.

      • Ahh I used to watch a bunch of kdramas too.! I’ve been thinking to watch one again but haven’t found one that looks good. The last one I watched was Abyss. Are you currently watching one?

      • I just watched “Because This is my First Life” and “Beauty Inside,” both really good! If you’re looking for a shorter one, around 15-30 minute episodes, “Kiss Goblin” and “Wednesday at 3:30pm” are both super cute, funny, and romantic! πŸ™‚

  4. Wow! I have been a Korean drama and pop fan for almost 15 years but I have never learnt writing Hangul. I can speak and understand basic korean words but writing it would reallt be difficult! You are awesome!

    • Aww Thank you so much πŸ’– I felt really lost not knowing English when I came to the U.S. and I got that same feeling watching Korean TV. So, I figured I should just learn Korean πŸ™‚

It’s fun that you’ve picked up basic Korean! Once you learn the alphabet, the writing becomes simpler. It’s more phonetically consistent than English.

Thanks again! Enjoy your week! 😊
