Who’s on first. What’s on second…
I try to update my phone number on Amazon online, but they want to send a verification code to my old phone number. Well, that won’t work. I have a new phone. So, I call customer service.
Amazon: Hello, so you can’t update your phone number?
Me: That’s right. It’s trying to send a verification text to my old number, which I don’t have. Can you help me put in my new number?
Amazon: Sure.
[After going through security questions.]
Amazon: Okay, great. We’ll just have to call you back at the phone number in your account.
Me: … That’s why I called, I don’t have that phone number anymore π€¦ββοΈ
Amazon: Well, we need to call you at the phone number in your account.

It was π₯ And the person on the phone was not understanding the concept of getting a new phone… Like, I don’t have the old one too! At least it makes for a funny story later on Hahaha π

I can so relate. My son’s phone got wet and was damaged. Thankfully, we had insurance BUT to get it replaced we had to turn off the “find my iPhone” on a dead phone where we could not get the texted code and could not reset the password. We went to Verizon, we went to Apple – I was about to lose my mind! Thankfully, a few hours later, some helpful soul new exactly how to help us around our problem. Hopefully you find that soul very soon! Fingers crossed!

Wow. What a conundrum. I wonder why they don’t realize the inherent problem in phone/phone number gone, but you need that phone/phone number to fix it π Hehe
